Day 5....Wyoming and Montana

Today we set out for Yellowstone.  We had a change in plans due to an avalanche at the east entrance of Yellowstone.  We had to drive up north and then back down to get to our hotel.

I have learned that it is with good reason that Montana is "Big Sky Country"....I marveled at the vast openness of the sky and how you could look up and that was all you could see.  It was definitely more beautiful than our wonderful NC sky!

Along the way we came upon this river ("Crazy Woman River") and my husband stopped the van on the interstate so that I could get a picture....he thought it was hilarious!  You would be amazed at the funny names we have seen on some of the roads and bridges throughout this trip.

There was not a lot to "see" along the way or reasons to stop...it was just enjoying the scenery while getting there.  We were cautious not to make too many stops as Yellowstone had experienced snow in the days previous to our arrival so we were trying to get there as quick as we could so that we did not have any unexpected issues!

When we did make it to Yellowstone, I decided it was worth the wait and it is one of the most beautiful park I have seen.  We came in the north entrance and drove around to the west to get to our hotel.  It gave us an opportunity to get some sites before the sun went down.  We were able to see some hot springs and smell them (think rotten eggs!!) due to the sulphur.

So far we have encountered Elk, Bison, Antelope, Goats and Deer since we have been in the park.  They will walk right out in front of you at any given point!

We are off today to see Yellowstone including Old Faithful!  I am looking forward to the fact that we are staying here three days.  It gets exhausting dragging luggage out everyday!!

Love and Blessings to you all!!!!
